READ Pete Edochie's message to Ekweremadu, APC govs


– Pete Edochie has reacted to the rift between Ike Ekweremadu and APC governors

– He condemned the plot by APC governors to remove Ekweremadu as the deputy Senate president

– The veteran actor said if Ekweremadu’s removal will stabilize the economy, they should go ahead and remove him but if not, the APC governors should resign

Renowned Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie has waded into the alleged plot by the President Muhaummadu Buhari-led government and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remove Ike Ekweremadu as deputy Senate president.

Ekweremadu and Bukola Saraki, the Senate president have under attack from the ruling APC since they emerged leaders of the Senate in 2015 against the wishes of the ruling party.


Buhari reportedly told APC governors in a meeting on Tuesday, July 26, to do all they could to ensure that Ekweremadu is ousted and they vowed to remove him.

Reacting to the alleged plot by the APC governors, the veteran actor in a post on his Facebook wall entitled: “Pete Edochie Quotes” said if the removal of Ekweremadu will things better in Nigeria, the governors should go ahead but if not, they should tender their resignation.


He wrote:‎ “If Ekweremadu’s removal will help stabilize the economy, then, they should do all within their power to remove him.

“If Ekweremadu’s removal will stop Nigerians from losing their jobs, then,it is a task that must be done.

“If Ekweremadu’s removal will curtail Fulani Herdsmen from killing of helpless Nigerians, then, Ekweremadu should vacate both his office and the senate immediately.


“If Ekweremadu’s removal will stabilize the prices of food and common commodities in the market, then, I am joining them in asking Ekweremadu to vacate the senate.

“If Ekweremadu’s removal will make Buhari to abandon his 97% and 5% policy, stop Buhari from seeking to turn Nigeria to a fiefdom where the only capable hands are only people from a certain part of the country, then, Ekweremadu’s immediate constituency should recall him from the Senate.

“But , where the reverse is true, All the APC Governors seeking Ekweremadu’s removal should tender their resignation letters and handover notes. God bless Us and God bless Nigeria.‎”

On Sunday, July 24, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state disclosed that Ekweremadu’s position as deputy Senate president was under threat. He said the deputy Senate president’s removal was inevitable, adding that he will be displaced by Benjamine Uwajumogu, an APC candidate.

In reaction, Ekweremadu who is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party said Okorocha was on a wild goose chase.
